Letter of Authority (LoA)
Authorisation document

Change of Tenancy (CoT)
New occupier registration

Standing Charge
Daily fixed cost
A daily fixed fee you pay regardless of how much energy you use.
Unit Rate
Per-unit cost
The price you pay per kWh (kilowatt-hour) of energy consumed.

Kilowatt-hour
The standard unit of measurement for energy consumption.
Energy Broker
Intermediary service
A company that compares energy deals and negotiates contracts on your behalf.
Fixed Rate Contract
Locked-in pricing
An energy contract where the unit rate stays the same for the contract period.
Smart Meter
Digital meter
A modern meter that sends usage data automatically to your supplier.
Rollover Contract
Auto-renewal
When your contract automatically renews (often at higher rates) if you don't act.
