Letter of Authority (LoA)

A document that authorises a third party to act on your behalf with suppliers.

What is a Letter of Authority?

A Letter of Authority (LoA) is a legal document that gives a third party (like SwitchAdmin) permission to deal with energy suppliers on your behalf. It's like a power of attorney, but specifically for energy matters.

What does it authorise?

With a signed LoA, we can:

  • Request information about your supply

    • Register Change of Tenancy

      • Dispute debts from previous occupiers

        • Negotiate and obtain quotes

          • Manage the switching process

            Is it legally binding?

Yes. A properly signed LoA is a legally recognised document. Suppliers are required to deal with authorised representatives.

            How do we use yours?

When you complete our online form, you sign an LoA electronically. We then use this to: 1. Contact your current supplier 2. Register that you're the new occupier 3. Clear any previous tenant debt 4. Arrange your new contract

            Is it safe to sign?

            Absolutely. Our LoA:

            • Only covers energy-related matters

              • Can be revoked at any time

                • Is time-limited (usually 12 months)

                  • Is standard industry practice

We're an authorised energy broker and handle thousands of LoAs securely.
